Having made good progress on the loft conversion and renovating the existing house at Heslop Road, the focus of our work is building the basement conversion.

The lightwell at the front of the house had been dug out and we were making really good progress until we came across a pipe that had been leaking into the earth.

It’s not uncommon to find leaks when you are working on a basement conversion and it is quite feasible that the leak would have gone unnoticed for years if it wasn’t for this building project.

The impact of the leak is that the ground was really wet and it had made the ground unstable so we had to quickly work on exposing the damaged pipe and repairing it.

While we were dealing with the leak, the underpinning had to stop, so we started work on the supporting walls instead. Later in the project we will put more guys on the dig and increase to two skips so that we can make up for lost time.

You never know what you are going to come up against when you are working on a basement conversion, but as we are a large and experienced company, we are able to quickly identify any problems and, where possible, we can increase the size of the team to keep jobs on programme.
