Full footprint basement conversion in Wandsworth

This family home on Geraldine Road, Wandsworth was already a substantial three-storey property. However, as with many Victorian properties, it lacked the sufficient living space we require today.

The remit was to ensure that the extension was integral to the existing living space, with light and space being of upmost importance. The end usage also needed to be flexible.

With this in mind, the basement conversion was designed under the full footprint of the house with three-metre high ceilings and the staircase located from the kitchen rather than the hallway. Skylights were fitted to the floor of the kitchen above to flood the basement with light.

The end result is a complete extra floor which fits seamlessly with the original layout of the property. There is a media/cinema room to the rear of the basement, while the middle houses a wine cellar, utilty room and bathroom, and the front of the property has an incredible playroom with hand-painted graffiti.
