Basement extension in Wandsworth

When the clients of this typical Victorian property contacted us to look at the home, they had already carried out a loft conversion and side return extension. The family had continued to outgrow the existing space. The only opportunity to add more space was to extend downwards.

The brief was to add a basement extension that would house a TV family area, a play area for the children and a storage area. To emphasise these two areas we designed the extension on two levels, the upper level for the family area and the lower level as a play area and storage. This was carried out incorporating storage for the childrenís toys under the upper level. There was further storage to the rear of the basement.

To complete the refurbishment we were asked to re-configure the ground floor to add a utility room and an area to house all the paraphernalia of a growing family.
