We have previously completed a spacious basement conversion on Nicosia Road and our new clients’ decision to select us is testament to our professionalism and workmanship on that project.
Adding a basement conversion to your home can be noisy and disruptive for both the home-owners and their neighbours. Whether you have an existing cellar or not, the building work will begin with several weeks of digging-out the basement.
There is also the constant drone of the conveyor belt, which removes the earth and dispenses it onto the skip. These are elements that can not be avoided, but our experience means that we take precautions to keep the disruption to a minimum.
These include only working during sociable hours and avoiding weekend work where possible; planning deliveries for times of day when they will have the least impact on the street; ensuring the site is well-presented and secure. The most effective precaution we take, though, is doing the digging phase as quickly and efficiently as possible.
If the home owners are living in the house during the building project, there is also work to be done to seal off the floor and minimise the dirt and dust coming up into the house and that the home above remains habitable. However, if the client moves out of the home we are able to cut a lot of the pipes and do not have the same priority of avoiding disrupting them. Therefore the home-owners not being present can speed up the process.
The dig for this basement conversion in Wandsworth Common began in late October and is now almost two-thirds complete, so there is an end to the nosiest, messiest part of the basement conversion project in sight.
